What is it like working in video games development?

Question by Stephanie Smephany: What is it like working in video games development?
I'm kinda interested in this, but I keep hearing bad stories about being payed peanuts and being mistreated or something? Is this true or does it just depend where you work.
Actually I'm more interested in the artistic side of it, like being a concept artist or 3D modeller or texturer hehe.
